Art Director

Evening Star is looking for an Art Director to help us create our new 3D game! As a member of our art team, you will be responsible for bringing our games to vibrant life by blending your outstanding talents at leading an art team with our proprietary game engine. Our ideal candidate will have a wide range of experience from having extensive knowledge of a wide-variety of 3D art pipelines, as well as managing the art production of 3D open world games with a mix of remote internal and external artists.

Remote working is in our DNA — since our inception in 2018, we have had developers across the U.S., England, and Australia. While we welcome people to join us in our Los Angeles office, this will never be a requirement.

  • Manage effective, clear communication among team members and partners, not limited to documentation, feedback rounds, project directives, and problem solving
  • Foster a collaborative spirit, working with departments and partners proactively and insightfully
  • Work closely with the Art Production Manager and external partners to ensure on-time delivery of art assets

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of experience leading the production of stylized 3D game projects as an Art Director

  • A strong portfolio showcasing recent professional or personal work
  • A deep understanding of 3D environment, 3D character, UI, and VFX art pipelines
  • Expert knowledge of game development production pipelines
  • Must be comfortable with GitHub, Perforce, or other comparable version control systems

Pluses

  • Experience working with mid-sized global game dev teams and outsourcing vendors
  • Knowledge of Unity3D, Unreal, Godot, or other game engines
  • Exercises sensibilities towards cohesive gameplay and player experience
  • Proficiency in Japanese
